The Enclosure Movement Continues/Saturday Ride
More Fences: Yes, the enclosure movement has continued unabated in the Buena Vista area this week. A new fence is going up on the southern border of the exchange area this week. As of yesterday afternoon, fences were up across Ron's and across the trail right at the Naked/Roughneck split. See pictures below:

The only remaining trail to be closed as of this morning is Petrified. Because the fence posts are there and sitting on the ground right now, it is reasonable to predict it will be closed off too either today or tomorrow.
Yes, these are bitter pills to swallow. But . . . a better day is coming and coming soon my friends. We are staging to be ready to build as soon as we have a USFS Determination Letter in hand. It is just too bad we could not get approval for our new builds prior to these fences going up.
There is some thought going on that the north side of the exchange area may not be fenced. We'll see. But if that turns out right, the Sierra Pines folks will still have a loop they can do on that side consisting of SGT, Show Low Creek, Fernau's Fantasy and Hi Sierra. You's also have access to all of Project X in that event.. It will be interesting to see what happens over there.
Saturday Ride: We will be having a Saturday Ride in the Buena Vista area starting at 7:00 a.m. sharp on August 3rd. Meet at the U.S. 60 trailhead a few miles south of Show Low. It will be a twelve to fifteen mile ride. Intermediate MTB skills recommended as usual for this ride. This is a friendly "no-drop" ride, so come on out and have some fun with us. We may (no, will) be doing some reconnaissance work out there to check out the lay of the land post-fencing now that we know exactly where the fences run.
Los Burros Rain-Ou Last Week: And hey, sorry for anyone that drove out to Los Burros last weekend based on the ride information shared here and on the Cyclemaniacs Strava. A very strong thunderstorm went right over the top of Los Burros about 6:00-6:30 in the morning last Saturday and dumped over an inch of rain. It was a freak thing because that was the only rain going on in all of Arizona at the time. We were able to throw up a last minute cancellation on the Cyclemaniacs Strava about 6:30, but it may have been too late to stop people from wasting their time going on out there. Sincerely sorry about that, but those are the vagaries of the monsoon in Arizona!
